Annual Report of Extension Activities – 2022-23

In 2022, Jain Institute of Technology, Davangere, undertook a series of significant and impactful events aimed at celebrating key moments in India's history and democracy, as well as fostering a deeper sense of civic responsibility and national pride among students. These events were meticulously planned and executed to educate and inspire the young minds of the institute, focusing on themes such as the making of the Indian Constitution, the 75th anniversary of India's independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav), National Unity Day, and voter awareness.

These events were not just commemorations but educational experiences designed to instill in students a profound understanding of India's rich heritage, the struggles and triumphs that have shaped the nation, and the importance of active participation in the democratic process. By bringing historical events and figures to the forefront, Jain Institute of Technology aims to bridge the gap between past and present, encouraging students to draw lessons from history while actively contributing to the nation's future.

Understanding the genesis and evolution of the Indian Constitution is pivotal for any educated citizen. This event focused on the monumental efforts and vision of the framers of the Constitution. By delving into the historical context and the painstaking processes involved in drafting this fundamental document, the institute aimed to enlighten students about the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, and how these values continue to guide the nation.

Marking 75 years of India's independence, the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations were a grand tribute to the nation's journey since 1947. This milestone provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements, challenges, and aspirations of India. The event was designed to evoke a sense of pride and patriotism, highlighting the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters and the progress made in various spheres since independence.

Commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, National Unity Day serves as a reminder of the importance of national integration and unity. Known as the "Iron Man of India," Patel's efforts in unifying the diverse princely states into a single nation were monumental. The event emphasized the significance of unity in diversity, encouraging students to uphold and celebrate the diverse yet unified spirit of India.

An informed and active electorate is the cornerstone of a robust democracy. The voter awareness event aimed to educate students about the electoral process, the importance of voting, and their rights and responsibilities as voters. By facilitating voter registration and providing insights into the electoral system, the institute sought to empower students to participate actively in the democratic process, thereby strengthening the foundations of democracy.
