Brief Report of the Event:

The youth of India are faced with a multitude of decisions regarding their schooling, careers, and other matters. Avoiding addiction of any kind is one of the biggest decisions made by today's young in India. An addiction to excessive use of social media, the internet, and mobile devices can manifest as a behavioural addiction. Addiction to substances is another category, which affects the entire country. Addictive substances, such as drugs, alcohol, and nicotine, are widely accessible to young people. Narcotic drug-containing medicinal goods are also being abused more frequently. Drug misuse is a multifaceted issue with a range of social, cultural, biological, historical, geographical, and economic facets. Drug addicts who use drugs to escape the harsh realities of life are becoming more common. These factors include the breakdown of the traditional joint family system, the lack of parental love and care in contemporary homes where both parents work, the erosion of traditional religious and moral ideals, etc. The type of drug consumed, the addict's personality, and their immediate surroundings are the main causes of drug use, misuse, and abuse. The conventional means of social control have become less effective as a result of the processes of industrialization, urbanization, and migration, making people more susceptible to the pressures and complexities of contemporary life. Drug misuse has had a negative effect on society. The rate of crime has increased as a result of it. In order to pay for their narcotics, addicts turn to criminality. Drug addiction is associated with an increased risk of eve-teasing, group conflicts, assault, and impulsive killings. Addiction not only compromises financial security but also escalates conflict and inflicts immense emotional suffering on all family members. Given that the majority of drug users are between the ages of 18 and 35, when people are most productive, the loss of human potential is immeasurable. The harm to a young person's development—physical, psychological, moral, and intellectual—is severe. There was a talk on how to recognize an addiction and when to avoid it after that. The A-B-C (Aware, Balance, and Control) guideline was presented by her to shield the pupils from all types of addiction. The resource person used numerous personal examples to ensure that each student understood the topics as she went over them with them. This gesture is especially noteworthy because it was so heart-warming. She also talked about the stories of a few of her pupils who had the guts to confront and overcome their addictions.
