A workshop designed to sensitize academicians to counselling techniques, fostering a supportive learning environment. Attendees will explore strategies for addressing student well-being and mental health in educational settings.
Mr. Mithun R, CLHRD Head, Mangalore,
A counsellor has a few skills, some of which are listed above. Sensitizing will therefore improve a teacher's abilities, and they will also play the job of a counsellor in the event that there isn't an internal counsellor or to assist a student directly, without referring them to one, in situations that can be resolved without psychological assistance. An open discussion about the purpose of the session's inclusion of instructors in particular followed this. In a film clip about the value of teachers in the lives of their students, staff members and students who were chosen at random over the course of a longitudinal portion discussed a significant teacher who had a positive impact on their lives. The discussion then moved on to the many kinds of pupils that may be found in a classroom as well as the various behaviours that students can display. A fun exercise called "Anemology" was performed with a group of instructors wherein each teacher was required to identify with an animal that best reflected their personality and characteristics. The attendees willingly and actively participated in the activity, which provided an energy boost. The same batch of students were split into two groups, and each group was given a scenario involving a student who needed assistance. The groups' task was to come up with responses or solutions for the student in these scenarios. A few professors opened out to various pupils during a conversation on their experiences serving as guides and counsellors. This conversation was full of feelings, from guilt to for not being able to save a child to relief after saving one.

An interactive workshop tailored for MBA students, focusing on enhancing emotional intelligence crucial for effective leadership and decision-making in their future managerial roles. Participants will engage in practical exercises and discussions to develop self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
Mr. Mithil R V, CLHRD Head, Bangalore.
"The capacity to recognize our own feelings and those of others, to motivate ourselves, and to manage emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships" is what is meant to be understood as emotional intelligence. Academic intelligence and emotional intelligence are complementary, yet different in terms of capacities. Experts in the fields of psychology, psychiatry, management consulting, and medicine have demonstrated that emotional intelligence is a set of personal traits that govern our behaviour, emotions, interpersonal relationships, performance at work, and overall health. A lack of emotional intelligence can lead to a variety of negative outcomes, such as awkward social situations, job dissatisfaction, poor performance, and even physical and psychological health issues, such as stress-related disorders or unsatisfactory interpersonal relationships. This is especially important for students preparing to work as managers in the future. In order to help the program's new students, get started on their studies as effectively as possible, a series of sessions on emotional intelligence was organized. Discovering the impact of emotional intelligence (EQ) at work, learning how to navigate challenging conversations and situations, comprehending emotions as they arise, developing diplomatic, tactful, and credible communication skills, managing behaviours that may be impeding one's ability to perform at their best, learning how to accurately read people and hear what they are "really" saying, managing the emotional aspects of conflict, and other skills were among the program's objectives. It was addressed how to apply EI at the work set. Recruitment and retention of top performers, leadership development, performance management, stress management, change management, diversity management, integration and management of mergers and acquisitions, etc. were a few of them. Later in the workshop, the trainees' emotional intelligence was the main focus.

Engage in supportive group therapy sessions delving into the complexities of failure, self-esteem, and motivation, fostering personal growth and resilience. Join us to explore strategies for overcoming setbacks and cultivating a positive sense of self-worth and determination.
Ms. Apporva M , Senior H R, delta services, Angod.
Academic failure is a problem that the student body faces frequently. In addition to the obvious consequences, academic failure has long-lasting effects such as low self-esteem and reduced motivation. Learning challenges, sleep deprivation, poor exam preparation, and personal issues like drug usage are among the factors that contribute to failing grades. The repercussions of these factors include the failure to set and meet objectives in both academic and professional efforts. Some students blame their parents for their poor academic performance, claiming that they don't set a good example or put too much pressure on their children. Some students blame their low self-esteem and social and athletic diversions for their bad grades. The class began with a "Who am I" individual exercise. Pupils were asked to express their feelings for the day. The majority of them stated that they don't feel exceptional, don't have any goals in life, are content with their life as it is, don't feel the need to change, etc. Through a further introspective exercise regarding why they are attending group therapy today, the students began to gradually confess the doubts that contributed to their academic disaster. The reflection points were then divided into three categories: lack of drive, unrealistic ambitions, and fear of failing. causes of failure include lack of discipline, low self-esteem, a fatalistic mind-set, lack of conviction, rationalization, and failure to learn from prior mistakes. Students list three objectives and three anxieties in another exercise. Techniques for raising one's self-esteem were spoken about. Self-motivation techniques were also covered. There were self-motivation videos shown. Pupils gradually revealed personal details about their tense parent-child relationship, learning handicap, worry that they wouldn't measure up to their parents' expectations, etc. The speaker worked with each instance separately in order to comprehend the difficulties and offer solutions. The session ended with a commitment to increase punctuality for courses, ask for academic support by attending extra classes or speaking with the topic teacher, communicate openly with parents, set reasonable goals, etc. Students who participated in the session thought that this kind of intervention was necessary on a regular basis.
