JITD Women Cell

Jain Institute of Technology has established a Women Cell (WC) to advance and defend the rights of the institution's female teachers, employees, and students. The WC seeks to advance gender awareness on campus and runs a variety of programming to inform, sensitize, and create a peaceful environment for both male and female members.

It works for the benefit of the students and teachers to develop them into skilled professionals ready to take on bigger academic challenges. The intention of WC is to empowering female faculty’s and students to better understand issues relating to women, to stop sexual harassment, and to address other delicate concerns experienced by female students. The college makes every effort to monitor and stop offensive language. Eminent gynaecologists, self defence experts, and social workers host workshops and education sessions for both staff and students. It gives them a platform to express their opinions and experiences about their place in society and offer suggestions for how to get better and become more independent. The college takes all necessary steps to protect the female students, professors, and staff members' safety and dignity.

M3: Creating a Supportive Network To establish a strong support network for women in JIT. We are committed to creating safe space where girl students and women employees can connect, share experiences, seek guidance, and receive mentorship from accomplished professionals, enabling them to navigate challenges and make informed decisions.

M4: Advocating Gender Sensitization To raise awareness about gender-related issues and promote a culture of respect and inclusivity within JIT through awareness campaigns and discussions we strive to sensitize the entire college community about the importance of gender equality and the role each individual plays in creating a more inclusive environment.

Financial Literacy On Women Empowerment

An insightful event on "Financial Literacy and Women Empowerment" took place at JIT, organized by the Women Empowerment Cell in collaboration with the Training and Placement Cell. The session, heldon11th May 2023, featured Dr. Prakash M Walavalkar, Dean of the Training and Placement Cell, as the distinguished resource person. The event, attended by all women staff members of JIT, aimed to shed light on the importance of financial literacy and the role it plays in empowering women. Dr. Ganesh D B, Principal and Director of JITD, urged the staff to actively participate and glean valuable insights from the session, emphasizing the significance of savings for women. Dr. Prakash M Walavalkar commenced the session by providing comprehensive information on various aspects of financial awareness, with a particular focus on savings and mutual funds. His expertise in the field, coupled with engaging presentation skills, made the complex subject matter accessible to all attendees.

The audience comprised Mrs. Saraswathi H S, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who also serves as the head of Women Cell. Additionally, Ms. Sahana P M, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, played a pivotal role as the event coordinator. Women faculty members from various departments were also present, contributing to the diverse representation of academic disciplines. Dr.Walavalkar delved into the intricacies of mutual funds, elucidating the different types and elucidating the manifold benefits they offer. The session provided a platform for open discussions, allowing attendees to seek clarifications and share experiences. The active participation of the women's staff underscored the relevance and timeliness of the event. The insights gained from Dr. Walavalkar's presentation are expected to empower the women staff members of JIT in making informed financial decisions, thereby fostering a culture of financial-independence and security.

Empowering Women: Celebrating Women's Day at Jain Institute of Technology, Davangere.

Jain Institute of Technology, Davangere, enthusiastically celebrated "Women's Day" on the 15th of March 2023,bringing together students, faculty, and distinguished guests for a day dedicated to acknowledging and empowering women. Dr. Shukla Shetty, Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology(OBG) at JJM Medical College, Davangere, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by eminent individuals, including Dr.Madukeshwara N, Dean Academics at JITD ,Prof. H S Saraswathi, Chairperson CICC at JITD, Mrs. Savita M, the Event Coordinator, and Ms. Anu M S, Student Coordinator at CICC, JITD. In addition to the insightful addresses by the dignitaries, the celebration featured a poster presentation by students on the theme of women empowerment. The posters, designed and presented by enthusiastic students, showcased their perspectives on the challenges faced by women and the strategies for empowerment.

Dr.Shukla Shetty's address focused on women's physical and mental well-being, enriching the audience with valuable insights from the field of Obstetrics& Gynaecology. Dr.Madukeshwara N motivated the girl students, urging the moto cultivate competitiveness for successful life and career pursuits.

The poster presentation added an interactive and creative dimension to the event, allowing students to express their views on women empowerment through visual representation. The present at ions highlighted the students' commitment to understanding and promoting gender equality.

Mrs.Savita M, as the Event Coordinator, played a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of the Women's Day celebration, including the coordination of the poster presentation.Ms. Anu M S, as the Student Coordinator for CICC,JITD, actively facilitated the student-ledinitiative, contributing to the success of the event. The Women's Day celebration at JITD emerged as a holistic tribute to women, combining informative sessions, motivational addresses, and student-driven initiatives. The event served as a platform for the exchange of ideas, fostering an environment of empowerment and inspiration among the JITD community. In essence, the celebration reaffirmed the institute's commitment to recognizing and honoring the achievements of women, making it a memorable and meaningful occasion for all.

Empowering Futures:Unveiling JIT's Women Empowerment Initiatives

JITD hosted a dynamic discussion on Women empowerment, bringing together JIT womencell coordinators and expertsin the field of Medicine and socialist Dr.Shashikala, Head of the Pathology Department at SS Hospital, Davangere, to chart a course for the Women Empowerment Cell's initiatives at JIT.

Key Highlights:

Empowering Sessions for Girl Students: The committee unanimously decided to conduct awareness sessions forall girl students every two months. These sessions aim to cover a broad spectrum of topics, including career guidance, personal development, health and societal issues.

Collaboration for Impact: Recognizing the value of diverse perspectives, the committee emphasized collaboration with external experts, industry professionals, and alumni who can contribute valuable insights during these sessions.

Resource Allocation: To ensure the success of these awareness sessions, resources will be allocated for materials, guestspeaker invitations, and logistical requirements.

Feedback Mechanism: A robust feedback mechanism will be established to continually evaluate the impact of the awareness sessions, allowing for adjustments and improvements in subsequent events. The committee is geared up to finalize the schedule, identify potential guest speakers, allocate resources, and develop promotional materials.
